Reality of Multiracial America Much More Complex
Multiracial groups in the U.S. are trying to reinforce a positive self-image in younger generations and interracial couples are more visible than ever. But however many mixed-race people or couples there are, society still seems to take offense to couples or people with a diverse background. Why is it that we are well into the 21st century and society still must question the identity of people who have grown up in multicultural settings? It's really up to all of us to address how important it is to appreciate, respect, and love ourselves and others without regards to whether or not any of us associate with one culture or many. It is out job to teach the next generation this bit of wisdom.
