Australia: New Home to Many Chinese Babies
Jane Liedtke, founder of Our Chinese Daughters Foundation, found an article about how Australia is emerging as a new home for many Chinese babies abandoned each year. China has been making efforts to improve the physical condition of the institutions and many foreign welfare organizations have been able to visit and help with new programs for the children. The prospective parents also have the opportunity to bond with their baby in the city the child was found while the adoption process is in progress. With the improving conditions of child adoption care institutions and programs in China, there is a greater chance that families and children will find each other more easily now. Hopefully with the increasing numbers of diverse families, this will encourage us to celebrate what we all share regardless of skin color or cultural roots and teach us that families are and can be forever.
